Law enforcement tracked the GPS device to a rented truck driven by Meza. When Denver Police attempted to arrest him, Meza led them on a high-speed chase, during which he fired a round from his handgun at a police vehicle. The chase ended in a four-car accident, after which Meza fled on foot but was apprehended by Denver Police. Officers found the stolen money and a loaded Glock 27 .40 caliber firearm in the truck.
